I remember spending hours at local car shows, just taking in all the sights and sounds. I was also lucky enough to have a family full of car enthusiasts, so I learned a lot about cars from them. We would spend hours working on various classic cars, and I loved every minute of it.
One of my favorite things about growing up in Detroit was the sense of community that existed among car enthusiasts. There were always car clubs and events happening, and it was a great way to meet new people and make friends. I also loved the fact that
Detroit is was home to some of the most iconic car brands in the world, such as Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. I was always proud to tell people that I was from Detroit, the car capital of the world.
Of course, there were also some challenges to growing up in the metro area in the 80s. Downtown was going through a rough time economically, and there was a lot of crime. However, I never let that stop me from enjoying my love of cars. I knew that Detroit was a special place, and I was grateful to have grown up there.
